Influenced by classic architectural forms, Camberwell Residence is a sophisticated family home in Melbourne’s East, exuding a traditional yet contemporary style; acting as a case study in solidarity and permanence through considered volumes and tall proportions. Situated around a central axis, the residence translates traditional architectural forms into a modern context focused on symmetrical planning.

Conventions of classical architecture are explored through the traditional formality of rooms; each space is holistically designed where architecture and interiors contribute to the grandeur of the home. Inspired by the unfolding of rooms seen in traditional Haussmannian apartments in Paris, Camberwell Residence reveals each designated space as you continue through the home, creating their own statement and celebrating their purpose.
Reflective of director Paul’s signature design ethos, the home presents formal architectural motifs at the front; a dramatic metal door opens onto a grand foyer that continues down a linear hallway with private formal rooms either side, converging to the public living spaces revealing an open and contemporary expression.
